It is fun to recreate things, thought at least four years ago. The interest about Asterisk, OpenSIPS and Open Source telephone software is growing faster than ever. In the last 4 years I have been writing about Asterisk and OpenSIPS. The problem writing about these softwares is the speed they get updated. In a recent survey, Bryan Chapman showed that we spend at least 36 hours developing course materials for each hour of delivered training http://brandon-hall.com/bryanchapman/?p=34. Developing course materials and consequentially the book in both English and Portuguese at the same time with OpenSIPS (former OpenSER) and Asterisk has been a nightmare. Well, the good news is that both books will be updated until the end of the year. I probably have a surprise for the new book Asterisk Configuration Guide.
What's new for the next version:
- Asterisk 1.6
- Dahdi
- SIP presence and TLS
- freePBX 2.5
