Hi,

Today is January, 1st, I hope you have had a wonderful new year's party. As most of people I had created a list of things to do for the year to come and yes, dieting is again on the list. Well, related to Asterisk, I have decided to update the eBook to "Asterisk 10" this year and give away the PDF for free. The last time I've been in Argentina for 4Kconference I was so well treated, that I could have a dimension of what means to write a book. Several people came to me to say thank you for the book and talk about how they have learned to install and use Asterisk using the book. I received several email from people around the world giving me a nice feedback. Life is made of good moments, and the Asterisk Guide has brought me many of these moments, that no money could buy. So I decided to give the Asterisk 1.6 PDF english edition for free, Asterisk 10 should be ready in 6 months. I hope you enjoy. Asterisk is a revolution, it has touched so many people in so many countries, I'm proud to contribute, even being so little.

There was an interesting thread in the last month regarding the end of the support for Asterisk version 1.4. Asterisk users will have to make a tough decision in the near future. To stay with Asterisk 1.4 and manage its own patches or to migrate to version 1.8. We have created a poll asking, "Is Asterisk 1.8 reliable?". Help the Asterisk community answering the poll.  Below is the table of Asterisk versions and the end of support for each version.
